> in Las Vegas So why spend $250 a night to stay at the Bellagio? Because it's in the best part of the Strip and because you can. Good luck finding a room at the Bellagio at a discount. Try Vegas.com or Las Vegas.com and see if you can find an available room for when you want to stay. Be sure to read our Hotel Advise page. That way you'll know what's really going on and why room prices on the "Heart of the Strip" are basically controlled. The Bellagio is a landmark Hotel, it doesn't have to cut it's rate because it is nearly always full. You want a cheap room, get off the strip and try checking the ads for deals at the Orleans or the Suncoast (You'll need a car to get to the strip). There is always parking at the Fashion Show Mall on the strip or out behind the New York New York or the Excalibur. Then plan on walking a bit. If you don't like to walk then stay in the south end of the Strip. The new Wynn Resort looks awesome (but no doubt expensive), Caesar's Palace, MGM Grand, and Paris are all good locations. I can't speak for the quality of their service or rates, but the location is good. Don't let me talk you out of coming to Vegas but don't be disappointed if you have not been here before and don't enjoy your stay. Vegas isn't for everyone, but it is a place that everyone should visit at least once just to see the gaudy scale of it all. It's something you can say you did. To me that's kind of like going to sea world or seeing the Grand Canyon. You do it once then you can say you've done it. If you end up liking Las Vegas then you will want to come back. And every trip you'll discover something new something different. Try coming at different times of the season, but do yourself a favor and avoid July and August and possibly even September as it can get hotter than the proverbial hell of which we like to comment on when it's really hot outside. The strip is a jungle of asphalt and buildings the air temperature may be 100 degrees (and you've no doubt heard the cliché "but it's a dry heat") but the REAL temperature after all that heat is reflected off the concrete and asphalt surfaces can easily reach 115 to 120 degrees. It's a fact folks you can easily get dehydrated and get heat sickness. And that will make your trip a very unpleasant one. So if I haven't disillusioned you or persuaded you not to visit then come on and visit. But be prepared for a real experience. This is not a fairy tale perfect place. What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas may sound cool on the surface, but you may just find what Happens in Vegas stays in Vegas because that is where it belongs. Got a question need some help? Drop us a line - simply click the contact button in the navigation menu and send us a note. We'll do our best to answer you with real answers. No we may not be able to tell you if there are irons at the Luxor in each room, or if there is a secret way to be comped at any particular hotel (sure spend a hell of a lot and ask at the customer service desk). If you want ads sent to your home join the programs like slot clubs when you check in. Ask at the check in desk about promos and coupons and deals. It can never hurt to ask. So come to Vegas, but come with your expectation level set so you won't go home disappointed. And come in the seasons when the weather is good. And by all means check the ads and take advantage of the low prices of our car rental services. What more can we say, we need to make a buck too! Enjoy PS - Vegas is a town you either love or hate, but you have to see for yourself at least once. Then if you are anything like me that trip to La Jolla and those perfect climatic temperatures might be just what you need for next years trip! Return to: Kids in Vegas Home Page
